I'm a life-long crafter with a passion for miniatures and scrapbooking and anything else that satisfies my need to CREATE. The loves of my life are my sweet baby girl, McKenna (born November 2007) and my husband of nearly 10 years, Ryan. I'm also furmom to Pinkerton, the piebald dachshund, Weezer the mostly-weenie part-moose dog and I'm still missing my Ziggy. They are my inspiration and motivation.

In Memory of Our Ziggy

As I noted in a previous post, we lost our little mini dachshund Ziggy 2 weeks ago :(

He was only 8 years old, and was our first "baby", so our hearts are still really heavy. Unfortunately, on that morning I was out of town and Ryan had lacrosse practice, and Ziggy managed to wriggle through the gate (he was a little guy, and from what we can determine, he managed to push the bottom of the gate open just enough to squeeze through) I was out of town with McKenna for her first trip to the beach, but I was the one that got the call from the lady on the side of the road. She's not the one who hit him, but she saw it happen. I'm so glad she had a kind heart, because she sat with him as he died. Thankfully, it was quick. I was finally able to get ahold of Ryan to go pick him up. He had already made it home by that point and was frantically looking for Ziggy. Although he didn't have a mark on him, I'm so sorry that Ryan had to see him that way, but immensely thankful that I didn't. I don't want to be left with that image. We had him cremated, and just picked up his ashes yesterday. He'll always be with us.

I'm sorry we let you down, little buddy. Thank you for giving us your love and trust for 8 great years.

This is a video that I made for him:
It won't win any awards, but making it was a therapeutic experience for me.

And here is the double layout that I put together for him today:
